(2019) Oliver Farrow; composer and keys player.
Oliver received his first commission last October from The Gap Arts Project in Balsall Heath where he was asked to create a piece about belonging in the local area.
Found, edited and remixed music & recorded sound included: field recordings of car horns from Ladypool Road, resident geese at a city farm, voicemail messages from a grandmother in Poland. This seemingly disparate combination of sounds culminated in a 20minute performance with a 5piece ensemble at the GAP Arts Project, as a key part of the Building for Belonging exhibition.
A recording of the live performance continued to be a central sound work throughout the exhibition which was available for public access for 1 month.
